CoW Swap Deploys on Solana via NEAR Intents Backend, Enabling Cross-Chain Swaps
Breaking News – March 22, 2025 – CoW Swap, the decentralized exchange known for its Coincidence of Wants (CoW) mechanism, has officially launched on the Solana blockchain. The expansion leverages NEAR Intents as a backend infrastructure to facilitate intent-based trading across multiple chains.
According to the team, Solana users can now execute swaps that settle partially or fully on other networks, unlocking unprecedented liquidity and price efficiency. “This is a major step toward a truly multi-chain future for DeFi,” said a CoW Swap spokesperson.
Immediate Impact on Solana Traders
The integration means Solana-based traders no longer need to bridge assets manually. NEAR Intents automatically routes and settles orders between Solana and other supported blockchains, including Ethereum and NEAR itself.

Sources close to the project confirm that initial testing shows settlement times averaging under 10 seconds with gas costs comparable to native Solana transactions. “We are removing the friction that has historically fragmented liquidity,” added the spokesperson.
Background: CoW Swap and NEAR Intents
CoW Swap operates on the Coincidence of Wants principle, matching orders peer-to-peer before consulting on-chain liquidity. This reduces slippage and miner extractable value (MEV) for traders. The protocol has processed over $30 billion in volume since its 2021 launch.
NEAR Intents, developed by the NEAR Foundation, provides a cross-chain settlement layer that interprets and executes user intents across blockchains. The project has been piloting its technology for months, and this deployment marks its first major integration with a third-party DEX.

What This Means for the DeFi Ecosystem
The move positions CoW Swap as one of the first major DEXs to offer true cross-chain order matching without wrapped tokens or third-party bridges. Analysts believe this could accelerate the adoption of intent-based architectures across the industry.
“If successful, this model could become the standard for multi-chain DEXs,” noted a DeFi researcher at a leading analytics firm. “Users will expect seamless cross-chain swaps as a basic feature, not a premium add-on.”
However, challenges remain. The reliance on NEAR Intents introduces a new trust assumption, though the team emphasizes that the system remains non-custodial and audited. Competition from incumbent aggregators like 1inch and Jupiter also looms.
CoW Swap plans to extend support to additional blockchains in the coming months, further expanding the reach of its intent-based trading engine. Stay tuned for live updates as the rollout progresses.
