Breaking: Google Cloud Next 2026 Showcases Full-Stack Dart, AI-Powered Coffee, and Enterprise Flutter Wins

LAS VEGAS, NV – April 2026 – Google Cloud Next 2026 erupted with major Flutter and Dart updates, including a preview of Dart support for Firebase Functions, enabling developers to use Dart for both frontend and backend. The announcement, made on the main expo floor, positions Dart as a true full-stack language within the Firebase ecosystem.

“This is a game-changer for Dart developers who want to own the full stack without switching languages,” said Emma Twersky, Developer Keynote host. “We’re eliminating context switching and speeding up development.” The team also debuted deeper Firebase integrations via the Dart Admin SDK, reducing friction for cloud-native apps.

Big Announcements

Full-stack Dart: The hallmark sneak peek of Dart support for Firebase Functions means developers can now write serverless logic entirely in Dart. This extends the language beyond Flutter’s UI layer into cloud functions, databases, and authentication.

“We’ve seen huge demand from the community to unify frontend and backend in one language,” said Rody Davis, Dart product manager. “Today’s preview is the first step toward that vision.” The feature is expected to reach general availability later this year.

AI-Powered Coffee: GenLatte

In the middle of the expo, Google Cloud Next attendees encountered GenLatte – an AI specialty coffee shop built entirely with Flutter GenUI. Visitors ordered drinks using a GenUI Flutter app, and watched baristas craft lattes topped with custom AI-generated foam art from nanobanana.

“GenLatte shows how Flutter can power generative UI in real-world, fun scenarios,” explained Andrew Brogdon, Developer Relations. “It’s not just a demo – it’s a glimpse into how agents can create dynamic interfaces on the fly.” The booth was constantly crowded with developers snapping photos of their personalized latte foam.

Agentic Mobile & Web Demos

The expo floor buzzed with three live Dart and Flutter demos: Full-stack Dart, GenUI, and a special showcase by VGV. One highlight was the Partiful app, which generates its entire UI on the fly using AI agents. Developers lined up to ask questions about how GenUI adapts to user input in real time.

“We’re moving beyond static UIs. Agents are now generating interfaces tailored to each user,” said Yegor Jbanov during a GenUI deep-dive session. The session, co-led by Andrew Brogdon, urged developers to rethink chatbots and embrace dynamic UI generation.

Builder Hub: Developer Home Base

At the heart of the Expo floor, the Builder Hub served as a central meeting point for developers. It featured dedicated booths for Flutter, Firebase, and Go, offering hands-on tool exploration and direct conversations with product experts.

“We wanted a space where the community could connect with the teams building these tools,” said Kate Lovett, Flutter PM. “The energy was incredible – people from over 30 countries came by.” The Hub also hosted mini-workshops and live Q&A sessions throughout the three-day event.

Key Sessions & Customer Stories

Developer Keynote

Emma Twersky hosted the Developer Keynote, framing Flutter as central to Google Cloud’s AI agent strategy. “Flutter is how you bring AI agents to users on any screen,” she said. The keynote included live demos of Flutter-powered agents interacting with Google Cloud services.

Toyota & Talabat: Real-World Enterprise Success

Abdallah Shaban shared the stage with leaders from Toyota and Talabat. Toyota revealed its next-generation infotainment system built with Flutter, promising a seamless, customizable in-car UX. Talabat showcased how it scaled across the Middle East using Flutter to ship features faster.

“Flutter cut our development time by 40% and helped us deliver consistent experiences across 10 markets,” said a Talabat engineering lead. The sessions were among the most attended of the conference.

Generative UI Deep Dive

Yegor Jbanov and Andrew Brogdon led a packed session on moving beyond text-based chatbots. They demonstrated how AI agents can create their own UI components in real time, personalizing interfaces per user action. The session will be available on the Flutter YouTube channel after Google I/O.

Building Full-Stack Dart

Rody Davis and Kevin Moore detailed why Dart is now a top choice for full-stack development. With Firebase Functions for Dart and the Admin SDK, developers can reduce architectural complexity. “Your Dart skills now span frontend and backend – that’s incredibly rare in a single language,” Moore noted.

Background

Google Cloud Next 2026 took place from April 9–11 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, drawing over 30,000 attendees. The Flutter team prepared extensively, building the GenLatte experience and refining demos to highlight the latest Dart capabilities. This year’s focus on “full-stack Dart” and generative UI reflects Google’s larger push to unify AI agent development with mobile and web frameworks.

What This Means

For Flutter developers, the ability to write Firebase Functions in Dart eliminates the need for a separate backend language, streamlining deployment and reducing cognitive load. The GenLatte and Partiful demos signal a future where UIs are not static but dynamically generated by AI, adapting in real time to user behavior. Enterprises like Toyota and Talabat are already betting on Flutter for critical systems, proving the framework’s maturity for large-scale production use.

With Google I/O on the horizon, many of these features will get deeper breakout sessions. Developers can expect more documentation, SDK updates, and community events. “This is just the beginning,” said Emma Twersky. “Flutter and Dart are on a trajectory to redefine full-stack development.”
